The Moo Poo Tart was definitely something I had to take a second look at, firstly due to the strange name and secondly, they look so darn good. Other names they go by are……UFO Tart and Cow Dung 🙂
The Moo Poo Tart is from a traditional dessert from Sandakan, Sabah, Malaysia called Ngau See Dui. The genius head chef and founder of Moo Poo Tart is a Malaysian born in Sandakan who relocated to Sydney a few years back and now recently started releasing these to the public.
I was recently asked to try out these buttery morsels of goodness at The Bamboo Lounge located 336 Sussex St, Sydney one Friday afternoon.
I was on the fence about these at first when offered to try them as I’ve never been a huge fan of meringue or lemon flavoured sweets, thank goodness I did give them a go as they’re sensational.
Buttery…..already said that but just so you know they are VERY buttery and full of sweetness, soft cookie type with lemon meringue and my favourite part, the custard center.
I picked up a box of 6 after a work meeting and took them back to the office. My fellow colleagues were a little apprehensive about trying them…….so, more for me wooooohoooooo. I ended up eating 4 of 6 Moo Poo Tarts and could easily have eaten them all; it was only out of good manners that I did share as next time I’ll be a little more selfish hehe
I sure hope to see these pop-up in other cafés in Sydney as it would be more convenient for me, though I may find I end up having more “meetings” near The Bamboo Lounge to get my hit.
